GCG Turbochargers Wins Distributor Of The Year

GCG Turbochargers Australia was awarded Distributor of the Year 2013 for Australasia in recognition of their performance for the 2013 year with the Garrett by Honeywell brand.

The recent bi-annual World Wide Distributor Conference in Vienna was the location for the event which was attended by all the major aftermarket turbocharger companies in the world. The award was judged against all other regional distributors based on a strict set of guidelines.

‘I was extremely excited about this award, recognising the efforts of the management and Team of GCG Turbochargers Australia on the world stage in front of their peers’ said Philip  Moore, General Manager of Honeywell Turbo Technologies Division in Australia.

The conference presented by Mr Clement de Valon, Global IAM Sales Director, entailed two information-packed days about the current state of play in the worldwide turbocharger industry and up-and-coming developments with the Garrett by Honeywell brand over the coming years.

There was heavy focus on multistage turbocharging, packaging of multiple turbochargers in small engine bays, and the company’s involvement with all major car and engine manufacturers in both petrol and diesel application. A key statistic to come from the data presented was the market penetration of turbochargers worldwide. The entire passenger car market, of which 31% is currently turbocharged, is expected to grow to 38% in 2020, with estimates reaching 70% by 2035.

These numbers are being driven by Government pressure to see cars provide even greater levels of fuel economy, combined with significantly lower emissions. Manufacturers are increasingly using turbochargers to meet these goals. Some key APAC launches for the coming year include the Mazda6 and CX5 featuring the SkyActiv 2.2ltr diesel, Hyundai i10 with the 1.1ltr CRDi and the Honda Amaze 1.5ltr i-DECT – all fitted with Garrett by Honeywell turbochargers.

GCG Turbochargers Australia, a family owned business, is this year celebrating 35 years of operation, during which the company has built its reputation on distributing genuine OEM products. GCG also support their business model with an aftermarket service division to assist with repairs to turbochargers and to help customers curb operating costs and turn around times.
